Rational usage of the natural resources, ensuring ecological safety and sustainability, and avoiding natural disaster risks are one of the priority areas for the Georgian Government.
To achieve these goals, the Government considers it important to promote green economy – one of the necessary instruments for a country’s sustainable development.
In 2016, Georgia joined the OECD’s (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) Green Growth Declaration, which is mainly aimed at inter-State cooperation for the promotion of green economy. Based on the Declaration principles, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia is working on the elaboration of the Green Economy Policy Document and the Green Growth National Strategy. The main goal of these documents is promotion of modernization of Georgian economy, and creation of the basis for sustainable and green development.
